Question:
Will medicine be able alleviate my problems with excessive sweating?
Answer:
Medicine might be able to help. Whether your problem is sweaty palms, feet, or armpits, you should see your GP to start with. He or she will be able to tell you, whether medicine can help you or not. Prescription tablets are one of the options, but unfortunately these often bring side effects such as dryness in the mouth, and occasionally vision disturbances. Anti-depressants may also be a solution. A treatment with aluminium chloride, in a solution with alcohol or Iontophoresis (a kind of electrical anti-perspirant), has also proved to be helpful. As shown in our treatment guide, Botox injections might also help against excessive sweating. In some cases the best solution would be to perform surgical intervention, where some skin and the sweat glands and are surgically removed. The result of this surgery is permanent. Please see your GP for further information.
